Nails.
WHat makes your nail services different from a traditional manicure?
Our services focus on hand and skin health first, not just polish. Each treatment is designed as a restorative experience using plant-based skincare, warm steam, detailed cuticle care, and hydration. Polish is the finishing touch—not the focus.
Do you use non-toxic or plant-based products?
Yes. We use plant-based, non-toxic products, including Green Envee skincare, to nourish the skin and support healthier nails without harsh chemicals.
Is polish required?
No. Polish is optional. Services can be finished with natural buffing for a clean, healthy shine, or with polish if desired.
How long does polish take to fully dry?
While nails may feel dry to the touch when leaving the spa, full drying takes several hours. We recommend being mindful of pressure and impact for the rest of the day.
How often should I book nail services?
We recommend scheduling every 3–4 weeks to maintain healthy nails, cuticles, and skin.
Can I request adjustments to my service?
Absolutely. Comfort is a priority. Elements such as steam can be adjusted or turned off at any time upon request.
Massage.
Are your massage therapists licensed and certified?
Yes. Our Massage Therapists have completed over 600 required hours with an accredited program. Including studies on Anatomy, Physiology and Kinesiology along with Massage Therapy and Professional Ethics. They are licensed in the state of Pennsylvania. Continued education through accredited programs are also required to maintain this licensure.
What should I expect during my appointment?
After checking in and completing the required paperwork, your massage therapist will perform a verbal consultation asking questions regarding your goals for your service. Your provider will go over what to expect during your service, what you will need to do and know, as well as answer any other questions you have before you get ready for your service as well and throughout your service if requested.
Should I take off my underwear when I get a massage?
Your massage therapist will let you know to undress to your comfort level. While some people prefer to get completely nude, others prefer to keep their undergarments on. It’s completely up to you!
The pressure isn’t deep enough/ too deep, what should I do?
Your Therapist will check in from time to time during your session, we encourage open communication throughout the service to make sure you are receiving exactly what you want and need out of your massage. While myths regarding massage needing to hurt to be effective tend to circulate, keep in mind that some massage techniques include light gentle touch. Too much pressure may cause muscles to tighten further, and can detract from the effectiveness of the massage.
Can anyone get a massage?
Not all massage types are appropriate for all conditions. Some health conditions require a lighter, gentler form of massage or specialized techniques or treatment plans. During your consultation, your Therapist will come up with a plan that fits your health needs.
What should I do after the massage?
At the end of your service your Therapist will explain all you need to know after your service including drinking water, when to shower next, when to resume physical activity etc. Don’t forget to ask any specific questions if necessary.
Stretch.
What Is Stretch Society?
Stretch Society is a guided, assisted stretch session where a trained provider moves your body through slow, intentional stretches. You don’t do the work — you relax while your muscles release and lengthen.
How is this different from stretching at home?
Most people stretch quickly or stop when it feels uncomfortable. Assisted stretching allows:
• deeper, safer stretches
• better joint positioning
• longer hold times
• nervous system relaxation
Which means your body actually lets go instead of fighting it.
Who is Stretch Society good for?
Honestly — almost everyone.
Especially:
• desk workers
• athletes + gym-goers
• parents
• people with stiffness or limited mobility
• anyone who feels “tight but functional”
You don’t need to be flexible to benefit — in fact, that’s usually who needs it most.
Does stretching really help with pain?
Yes. Stretching:
• reduces muscle tension
• improves circulation
• helps joint alignment
• decreases stiffness that leads to aches
While it’s not a medical treatment, many clients feel noticeable relief and improved movement after just one session.
How long is the session?
You can choose:
• 30 minutes — great for first-timers or targeted relief
• 60 minutes — deeper, more comprehensive work
And yes… it goes by way faster than you expect.
What happens during a session?
You’ll be guided through full-body passive stretches while lying comfortably. We focus on high-tension areas like hips, back, shoulders, and legs. You stay fully clothed and relaxed the entire time.
What should I wear?
Comfortable clothing you can move in — leggings, joggers, athletic wear. No jeans, skirts, or restrictive clothing.
Can I add this to a massage?
Absolutely — Stretch Society pairs beautifully with massage for improved flexibility, recovery, and longer-lasting results.
Will it hurt?
No — and it shouldn’t.
Stretch Society is about release, not force. We work within your comfort level and adjust everything to your body.
How often should I do it?
That depends on your body and lifestyle. Many clients benefit from:
• weekly or bi-weekly for tight or active bodies
• monthly for maintenance and mobility
We’re happy to help you decide what’s best.
Facials.
Are your Estheticians Licensed?
Yes. Our Estheticians have completed over 300 state required hours of education through an accredited program including studies on Anatomy, Skin Conditions and Treatments, along with targeted treatments such as Facials, and Waxing and are licensed in the state of Pennsylvania. Continued education in waxing techniques, facial
massage techniques, tinting, permanent makeup and other areas of esthetics allow our estheticians to stay up to date with the latest trends while providing professional expertise to achieve the best results for our clients skin.
What can I expect during my appointment?
After checking in and completing the required paperwork, your Esthetician will perform a verbal consultation asking questions regarding your goals for your service. Your provider will go over what to expect during your service, what you will need to do and
know, as well as answer any other questions you have before you get ready for your service as well and throughout your service if requested.
What should I do to prepare for my facial?
Facials are designed to work on your skin from the décolleté up, you will want to plan on removing top, and lowering bra straps or removing bra. Please arrive without makeup, and men should be clean shaved unless bearded.
Will my facial hurt, or be uncomfortable?
Facials are designed for skin health and relaxing the mind. While some exfoliating services can cause some light discomfort, it should not feel worse than light tingling. Your esthetician will explain any sensations you may have throughout your service.
How soon will I start seeing results from my facial?
Some people see results immediately, and your skin should feel different right away. The skin feels clean, smooth, hydrated, and reflects a new level of health that’s visibly noticeable. If the skin has more advanced long-term needs, such as treatment of skin
aging, acne or hyper-pigmentation caused by hormonal fluctuations or sun damage, results may not be immediately visible; however, skin health will continue to improve as you follow your estheticians advice, and use a good home-care regimen.
Waxing.
Why Wax?
Waxing is one of the best ways to remove unwanted hair temporarily. It is more effective than shaving because it removes hair from the roots, not just from the skin’s surface. Waxing over time will reveal lighter, more sparse hair, and in some cases no hair at all.
How long does my hair need to be for waxing?
It is suggested that the hair be at least ¼ inch long or enough to grab with your finger tips. The longer the hair, the easier it is to remove the hair. Allow at least 2 weeks of growth before your first waxing service for best results.
How long will the results last?
The average hair cycle is every 28 days. Once the hair is removed from the root via waxing, you can expect anywhere from 1-3 weeks with minimal growth depending on how your particular hair grows.
We suggest getting waxed consistently (when your esthetician recommends, usually every 2-4 weeks) for the best results. The more you wax without shaving in between, the better results you will have.
Is body waxing sanitary?
Yes. At Prohibited. Face and Body Bar, there is never any double dipping wax
implements, therefore, no risk of cross contamination.
Is waxing safe for sensitive skin?
Waxing is performed in a sanitary environment, by a licensed professional and can be considered a safer alternative than shaving or other at home depilatories. While some reactions can occur, your esthetician will make sure to go over all aftercare needed.
Who should not be waxed?
● Anyone using Accutane or or any topical or oral prescribed skin treatments within 6 months.
● Anyone with an active Herpes outbreak.
● Anyone with a sunburn in the area to be treated.
● Anyone who has had a chemical peel over the treatment area within 7 days of the waxing.
● Anyone who has used any type of Retinol within the last 36 hours over the treatment area.
● Any area of the skin showing signs of trauma, varicose veins, open lesions (including acne), eczema, psoriasis or any type of dermatitis.
Tinting.
What is tint?
Eyebrow tinting is the process of applying semi-permanent dye to enhance, shape and define your brows. Our richly pigmented tint stains the skin as well as the brow hairs.
How long does it last?
The tint lasts 7 days on the skin and up to 3-4 weeks on the hair. Proper aftercare will allow for the longest lasting results.
Is tint safe for pregnant and breastfeeding women?
Our tint is NOT safe for pregnant and breastfeeding women. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding we recommend consulting with your healthcare provider.
What is the before and aftercare for tint?
By following the correct aftercare, you can achieve longer-lasting tint results. We’ve
compiled a list of our go-to aftercare tips, which should be followed for 24 to 48 hours
post-treatment:
● Avoid using makeup and facial cleansers around the brow or lash area.
● Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, the use of sunbeds, saunas, steam
rooms, and swimming pools.
● Avoid exfoliating and using anti-aging products around the brow area.
● Avoid using any self-tanning products on the face for around two-three days on
either side of the treatment.
● Avoid the temptation to over-touch the brow area after treatment. Touching with
hands/fingers can lead to oils entering opening pores and clogging them.
